Shape x SimpleHash - Shapecraft 2024

Shape is building an L2 chain focused on creators - fostering a cultural ecosystem built from the ground up. SimpleHash is proud to support Shape, and the upcoming Shapecraft online hackathon. On November 11, SimpleHash will be hosting a free workshop intended to kick start creativity for Shapecraft, and equip builders with the tools they need to compete.

What is Shape?

Shape is built on Ethereum, inheriting its security, while being crafted specifically for creators. It’s an open, decentralized platform where artists, developers, and innovators can freely explore ideas—whether they’re producing fine art, running experimental projects, or launching entirely new concepts.

One unique aspect of Shape is its “Gasback” feature, which lets creators reclaim 80% of the sequencer fees that users pay when interacting with their contracts. This includes contracts you create, acquire, or deploy via third-party platforms, making it a creator-centric space for maximizing revenue.

As an EVM-equivalent network, Shape offers the same developer experience as Ethereum but with significantly lower costs. Security, stability, and scalability are cornerstones of Shape’s infrastructure, with critical partnerships with Optimism to ensure robust performance.

Shape is a part of the Optimism “Superchain,” a broader network collaboration that amplifies benefits across the ecosystem. This includes pooled resources for public goods, extended support for builders, and network-wide incentives, positioning Shape as an integral part of the Ethereum-based creative economy.

Shape x SimpleHash

Shape is fully indexed on the SimpleHash API - crypto devs can query any NFT or Token transaction, balance or metadata. The schema works exactly the same as the 70+ otherchains supported.

Using SimpleHash, creators can abstract away the complexity of dealing with RPC calls or doing in-house indexing to get detailed token data, and instead focus on building better end user experiences. And for devs needing access to testnet environments, SimpleHash also provides indexed access to the Shape Sepolia testnet.

Shapecraft 2024 & Nov 11 Builders Workshop

Shapecraft is Shape’s online hackathon running through November and December, bringing creators together to build forever worlds—online realms designed to outlast trends, feel immersive, and bring a new layer of creativity to onchain development. Kicking off November 18, Shapecraft 2024 will focus on collaborative, community-driven projects where devs and creatives build worlds people want to explore and keep coming back to.

On November 11, SimpleHash is hosting a workshop to give teams the inside track on using its powerful data tools in Shapecraft. The workshop will dive into how SimpleHash’s API simplifies Token and NFT data access across Shape, making it easy for devs to integrate token transactions, metadata, and more. This means teams can spend less time on backend logistics and more on crafting seamless, user-focused experiences.

Shapecraft isn’t about quick-fix projects or temporary hype—this is about creating persistent, evolving worlds. Whether it’s a shared RPG, a 3D gallery, or a virtual hangout where communities unite and grow, Shapecraft is for building what lasts.
